This policy explains how Cumbernauld Software Solutions Limited ("we", "us") handles your information when you use our Android app Golf Score & More (the "app"). We are the data controller for the information described here.
The short version
- Your rounds and scores are stored on your phone.
- Cloud features are optional and off until you turn them on.
- We do not sell your data and we do not show adverts.
Information the app uses
Location
The app uses your phone's location to show distances on the course and to find golf courses near you. Location is used on your phone while you use these features.
Health and fitness (optional)
If you choose to connect health features, that information stays on your phone and is not sent to us.
Photos, camera and files
The app can use your camera, photos and files when you choose to, for example to save or import a scorecard. We only access them when you use these features.
Bluetooth, nearby devices and microphone
Some features may ask for access to nearby devices or the microphone. These are only used for the feature you start and are not used to track you.
Optional cloud features
If you turn on cloud features (Scorecard+ › Options › Cloud), we use Google Firebase to:
- sign you in (Firebase Authentication);
- store and sync your scores, and share them with friends you choose (Cloud Firestore);
- receive crash reports and anonymous error reports so we can fix problems (Firebase Crashlytics).
We also use Google Play Integrity (through Firebase App Check) to check that requests come from the genuine app. Google processes this information on our behalf. See Firebase privacy information.
If cloud features are off, crash reporting is off and your rounds are not uploaded.
Why we use your information
We use information only to provide the app's features you ask for, to keep the app secure and to fix problems. Our legal bases under UK GDPR are performing our service for you, your consent (for optional features you turn on) and our legitimate interest in keeping the app working and secure.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We only share it with service providers that help run the app (such as Google Firebase), or when the law requires it. Scores you choose to share are visible to the friends you share them with.
How long we keep it
Information on your phone stays until you delete it or uninstall the app. Cloud data is kept while your account is active. You can ask us to delete your cloud data at any time.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, and object to or restrict how we use it. You can also withdraw consent by turning off the related feature. To make a request, email us at the address below. You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
The app is not aimed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will change the date at the top when we do, and tell you in the app if the changes are significant.
